A Way of Being Human

Awww, do I really have to?

So I had a fun day yesterday.  I got to experience contractions all day.  I realized it about 1130am that I kept having them- minor as they were.  As the day progressed – I was working- I noticed that the intensity was a little stronger and they were all under about 10min apart. ‘Interesting’ I thought.  It was just enough to perspire a little on the upper lip and such.  I was amused.  Towards the end of the day I was thinking, just in case, I should call the OB just to get a clue as to what he would want to do anything.  I really didn’t think that I was in labor.  Anyways the nurse decided that I needed to ‘be seen’.  I was like really?! She insisted since I am 35 weeks and a few days and can’t have the baby before 36 weeks which is Sunday.  Anyways after about 2 hours of monitoring, I was glad to get to go home. My contractions continued until about 10pm and didn’t wake me while I slept – hard!  Today I had a few contractions, but just really felt alot of tightening in my legs.  Looking forward to my next Monday visit.  At the hospital there was still no movement so we shall see.

Happy 2nd Birthday Katie!

I can’t believe it! My baby is 2. She doesn’t hesitate to tell you either.  Katie is a sweetie pie, imaginative, and generous.  We are so grateful for her in our lives.  We had a fun birthday at the park and then later at Mimi & Grandpa’s for dinner and presents.  Check out the pics for fun.

Lucy Update:  Had my appt with the dr today and all is well.  Blood pressure and weight is all good.  Things are moving in the right direction as the contractions I am having are making things move.  I am 25% effaced so here we go! She said that my uterus was now tilted into the right spot too.  I am having a lot of off and on contractions over this past weekend and today.  Also some annoying lower back ache which seems to come and go so it appears that may be contractions too.  We shall see.  The next update will be on Monday to see how we are progressing.  I am officially 35 weeks prego and at 37 am considered full term.  God has been good!  Thanks to Him for our many blessings!  Love to all- D

Well, ain’t that nice?

Figured I should fill you in on the latest adventures regarding Lucy’s upcoming birth day! I had an appointment Monday before last with a doctor in the practice that was lets just say…not in tune with our plan…she decided to inform me of her ‘rules’ for my delivery plan.  She plans on discussing with my specified doctor what her issues are.  Mind you- she is approximately my age and 23 weeks prego with her first baby.  I purposely avoided doctors from my generation- sorry guys- because she/they talked to me like a text book.  There is much to say for life and work experience – i.e. wisdom.  I suppose my favorite comment from her was that I needed to be sure to reconsider my choice regarding an epidural ’since the moms tend to blame themselves when the baby ends up with cerebral palsy since the physicians couldn’t anesthetize the mom fast enough.’ YIKES! That is when I stopped talking with her and said I would get with my doctor about her issues since he was specific in indicating that those working in his practice would honor his agreements.  Anywho, I am planning on calling my doc on Monday to see what his plan is on dealing with her and her issues.  She is a nice lady- don’t get me wrong our goal here is to have ‘a healthy baby’ (as she put it) – LIKE I’M NOT! Oh brother.

So now it is Wed and I have spoken to Dr. D and he is SO cool!  He called me to just say that we had taken Beth by surprise and that she was fresh out of UAB.  He said that if she was on call during my delivery that he would step in for her.  I am so grateful!  I go in on Monday for my ‘final’ 2 weeker appt and then start the once per week visits.  I can’t believe it is almost here! I still need to pack.  There is a diaper shower for me at church on Oct 2 so that will be fun.  From what I hear we are going to get to sing some hymns and such- how neat!

Now today is Katie Lyn’s 2nd bday! I am so pumped! I am hosting a playdate at a great park, the weather is supposed to be about 85 and great! I have some cupcakes prepared and look forward to a fun time.  Only bummer is that I am now fighting some kind of sore throat/allergy thing. Yuk! I sure hope if goes away soon.  I felt so good not getting sick this whole time and to get down to the end is, well, BOOO!  I am supposed to be meeting with the Doula soon.  She is available and we have a family in our church that is helping me ‘raise’ the $ to pay for it.  I so appreciate their endeavors!  On a side note, I had emailed pics from Molly’s bday a while back so if you didn’t see those, let me know.  I’m taking the digital camera today for Katie’s park adventures.  We will be going to the in-laws for dinner and gifts tonight.  Love you!

Happy Labor Day!

Filed under: church life, recommendations — brianmclain @ 8:08 pm

Well, I celebrated Labor Day by mowing the yard and taking the girl’s outgrown clothes into the attic, which is harder than it sounds – I’m wider than our attic entrance, and apparently, me and a box of clothes are beyond the attic stair’s weight capacity, so I now have to use a step ladder to get into the attic. It wasn’t all Labor today, though. We cooked out with my parents and Denise and I got to check out the Bourne Ultimatum – excellent ending to an excellent trilogy.

Anyways, I ran across this great little post on Labor Day and Sabbath rest that I wanted to share with you. Thanks Jamey for posting it!

LOL! I’m in dreamland for sure!!!

Okay, so I couldn’t help it, but I have to share this dream that I had last night.  Brian likes to laugh at the number of details that I recall and that I even recall my dreams period.  So just a synopsis of my day yesterday- reading about feasting on Nancy Wilson’s blog, listened to Wiggles in the car on the way home with the kiddos, read a cookbook, and wishing that we could go on a beach vacation to Panama City where my boss owns a condo that we can use.  So here goes…

I dreamed that we were on a beautiful beach and staying in a nice hotel.  The 2 kiddos went to bed and I was walking along the moonlit beach (not prego-as far as I can tell).  I come across a campfire that looks inviting and who else is sitting there? Greg, Jeff, Murray, & Anthony Wiggle!! ‘How exciting’ I think- too bad Molly isn’t here with me!  What are they cooking I wonder…but a huge feast…a low country boil with shrimp, crabs, and corn on the cob.  They invite me, in their fun Austrailian accents, to sit down and enjoy the meal with them and of course I do, wishing that I had my camera for Miss Molly!  It was such an enjoyable evening of fun and laughter.  What I thought was neat also was all the families that were present in the hotel, I was familiar with too.  They had a snack bar that stayed open until about 8:30 at night so that Brian could go and get me some great tasting icecream after the girls were asleep- I suppose I was prego in the dream after all! HA!

Man- I really needed that!  It was a restful dream after the previous night of incorporating the horrible lightning storm into my dream.  The dream, you ask?We were having to move out of our home in the middle of the night during a bad rain storm! YIKES! I was tired after that one!  …and I was definitely prego in that dream!

Love you to all! D.
