Hail Miley Full of Fluff

April 19, 2009

I probably shouldn’t say this
But at times I get so scared
When I think about the previous
Relationship we shared

It was awesome but we lost it
It’s not possible for me not to care
And now we’re standing in the rain
But nothing’s ever gonna change
Until you hear, my dear

The 7 things I hate about you!
The 7 things I hate about you, oh you
You’re vain, your games, you’re insecure
You love me, you like her
You make me laugh, you make me cry
I don’t know which side to buy

Your friends, they’re jerks
When you act like them, just know it hurts
I wanna be with the one I know
And the 7th thing I hate the most that you do
You make me love you

It’s awkward and silent
As I wait for you to say
What I need to hear now
Your sincere apology

When you mean it, I’ll believe it
If you text it, I’ll delete it
Let’s be clear
Oh, I’m not coming back
You’re taking 7 steps here

The 7 things I hate about you!
You’re vain, your games, you’re insecure
You love me, you like her
You make me laugh, you make me cry
I don’t know which side to buy

Your friends, they’re jerks
When you act like them, just know it hurts
I wanna be with the one I know
And the 7th thing I hate the most that you do
You make me love you

And compared to all the great things
That would take too long to write
I probably should mention the 7 that I like

The 7 things I like about you!
Your hair, your eyes, your old Levi’s
When we kiss I’m hypnotized
You make me laugh, you make me cry
But I guess that’s both I’ll have to buy

Your hands in mine
When we’re intertwined, everything’s alright
I wanna be with the one I know
And the 7th thing I like most that you do
You make me love you, you do

My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant.
For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed;
for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.
And his mercy is for those who fear him
from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm;
he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts;
he has brought down the mighty from their thrones
and exalted those of humble estate;
he has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,
as he spoke to our fathers,
to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”

“The Magnificat” – from the Bible

You can have today’s pop teen princess, I’ll take the original.

    Hey Bri, just ran across this and gotta say, the Magnificat is just about the most beautiful thing there is. A few months back, lots of folks were drawing parallels between U2’s “Magnificent” and The Magnificat. I think the parallels are a little more favorable in that case, and it’s a pretty great song (the only one on their new album, unfortunately). Anyway, if that title is yours originally, it’s brilliant.

    Thanks John. Man, it’s been a while since I was on my own blog… I need to get with it. I haven’t listened to U2’s new album yet – mainly because I haven’t read many good reviews. Although their concerts are some of the best I’ve ever been to, I’m not so crazy about their albums that I have to have every single one as soon as they come out. As far as this particular post goes, I think I wrote this right about the time a friend of mine told me that Hannah Montana was his little girl’s favorite show – which I think is ridiculous. I guess my point is that not only are her lyrics – as well as some of the things on her show – not appropriate for young girls (or even teens for that matter), but it’s not even good – talent wise. Then I thought, well, there’s sure not a whole lot out there that is, which made me think of the Magnificant.
